Rationale

The European medical cannabis market reached a value of US$ 2,167.8 million in 2023. The market is expected to reach US$11,093.7 million by 2032, exhibiting a growth rate (CAGR) of 19.3% between 2024 and 2032. As medical cannabis is being legalised in several European countries, it is necessary to understand the regulatory frameworks, guidelines and compliance requirements. In addition, with the increased use of medical cannabis, there is a need for robust research and clinical data to assess its efficacy, safety and therapeutic potential in different conditions.

There is also a need to educate healthcare professionals, patients and the general public about the possible benefits and risks associated with the use of medical cannabis. The evolving scenario requires the involvement of various stakeholders. This includes, on the one hand, the companies that produce and sell medical cannabis and, on the other hand, policymakers, healthcare providers, researchers, and patient advocates to share perspectives and collaborate on best practices.

It is in this context, and based on the perceived need to provide a platform for a broader discussion on medical cannabis, that the Symposium “Medical cannabis in Europe: an assessment of trends and the state of the art” is being organised.
